Adorable Candy Huggers – clipart file

IMG_4549These adorable candy huggers are a quick and easy project for parties, presents and more.  Sanqunetti’s clipart files provide a JPEG, PNG and EPS file which can easily imported into cricut design space.

The image set file includes 9 characters, including a chick, rabbit, frog, horse, cow, pig, cat, dog and unicorn!!

I imported each of the jpeg designs into design space and chose “complex” when selecting an image type.  You will see a preview of the print and cut file.  I always add extra key words so you can find your images later via search.

I cut my huggers out of 200gsm cardstock, using the print and cut feature in Cricut design space and using my Cricut air machine.

Note: I tried to print my shapes out as close as possible to 4 inches wide, but in order to get 3 to a page, I attached 3 of the images together and made the total width 9.25 inches  – which is the largest a shape can print and cut in cricut design space.  This ensures that you get 3 shapes per page (rather than one or two) – so that you can get more on one piece of paper!

You could also print the huggers onto white card stock and cut out the shapes by hand if you don’t have a cutting machine.

Get creative with your favorite candy, lollies, washi tape, twine and mini tags and secure them with glue dots, double sided tape or glue (I always use Helmar 450)

You are not just limited to candy, check out these ideas;

  • chocolate candies
  • mini erasers
  • temporary tattoos
  • gum
  • other various candy
  • a tiny little folded note
  • mini pencil or crayon
  • mini lollipops

The candy huggers make great gifts for school friends, young relatives.  These would be ideal for lolly bags, parties or on top of your gift wrapping.

Lettering Direct – SVG Cut Files

I had my cricut explore for a few months before I got around to uploading my own SVG cut files.

It was only after I exhausted the cricut design space image library did I find that there was a whole other world out there!

One of my great finds has been Lettering Delights, their fun/child like images really appeal to me and so far, they don’t seem overly complicated in design.  I’m really a 4 layers maximum kind of girl!  Else, it just takes too long to glue and I start to lose the pieces on my desk.

Their printed PDF instructions highlighting the layers is also really clear to follow, which was a relief to me who was a bit unsure about purchasing and importing non-cricut images.

I do spend some time editing designs in design space to delete layers and attach some layers to others which slightly changes the design, but makes the cutting less complicated.

I found the best tip when attaching the layers also.  I was having a problem when the outer edge was being cut first, before the detailed layer.  The cut wasn’t working because the paper didn’t have the stability that it needs to cut small details after the outline cut.  When you attach your images, make sure the outside cut is ordered in front of the detailed cuts.  Read about it here & other cricut hacks; Vintage Revivals

multi-tasking in 2014

Sometimes you think you must be crazy, trying to do everything!

With Xmas fast approaching, I’ve never been busier. I’m not quite sure why I’ve done this to myself, this year has been a memorable one.  We sold our house, moved and am currently renting awaiting our new house to be built.  I took on a new job 3 days a week for the year (that finishes on the 23rd of December), so am now looking for employment for 2015.  My husband also got a new job after 8.5 years in the same job, Willow was in Kinder, going through all the school transition days/orientation and Fox has gone through the terrible 2’s.  That and all the Willow Fox stuff, I have never done as many markets as I did in 2014.  But I have got so much wonderful support from Trove Bendigo (the monthly market held at the Good Loaf) and It’s been great to get lots of repeat customers.

Note: the next TROVE and my last market for 2014 is on December 14 (at the Good Loaf, Hargreaves Street, Bendigo, Victoria) _ I hope to see you there!

Thanks, Libby
